The seers were felicitated by Dr.Ravi Patil and sought their blessings. Dr Ravi Patil felicitated Chandrakant Budarkatti, running blood bank for the last 35 years under the name “Belgaum Blood Bank” and Dr. B.V. Putti. Mrs. Lata Amashi, Ms. Jaishree Patil, Ms.Leena Topannavar, and Ms Renu Chigare, were felicitated by Mrs. Sunita Patil, Director,VOTC. Dr.Ravi Patil and Advocate Basavaraj Rotti felicitated Shashikant Patil, Raju Chikangoudar, Ashok Shintre, Dr Prakash Patil, former Mayor Shivaji Sunthankar and former corporator Sadiq Inamdar.

Dr. B.V. Putti began his speech and said that his former student Dr. Ravi Patil, is a young achiever who single handedly built a large institution. His commitment, integrity, tenacity, and strategy is worthy of praise and appreciation. Dr Putti, also congratulated his family members and relatives who stood by him and what one sees at VOTC is a result of their combined efforts and complimented them for the same.

Dr. Patil first was instrumental in getting infrastructure ready for VOTC and the second achievement was establishing a blood bank, adding a final touch to his institution. Today, it has become a fashion to abuse Doctors, if the patient does not heal quickly; but people should understand that timely availability of blood is the first requirement for a patient to get on his feet quickly. So one should start by donating blood and also important to create awareness in society regarding the same. In blood donation only 350ml is taken from the body from a total of 5.5 litres of blood; blood regenerates in about 10 days time and is not a cause for worry. Voluntarily giving blood is the greatest of donations.

Dr. Ravi Patil: began his speech and mentioned that VOTC was facing shortage of blood and hence the reason for starting the same. During trauma one needs lots of blood and the same can be kept ready if people donate blood in large numbers.  Blood donation is equal to Anna Danya (giving Food grains) and one earns equal merit and goodwill and it is on par with visiting a religious place.  There is a provision being worked for blood donors who will get a card on donating blood and the card can be shown in different parts of the country. There is considerable work which needs to be done and said that it is  work in progress.

Mrs. Latha Amashi briefly spoke about the importance of donating blood and she holds a record for blood donation through Rotary organisation.  She spoke of her long association with Chandrakant Budarkatti and his son Girish.  Dileep Vernekar called it “Shrestha Daan” and the greatest donation one should give. But there are restrictions and one should not indulge in any vices before giving blood.

Karanji Mutt Swamiji spoke and addressed all including the BJP and RSS leaders who assembled for the noble cause, added that Dr. Ravi Patil, had lots of love and affection for his patients and there are few recognised Doctors who are doing social service and he is one of them. Family members of patients waste lots of time searching for blood and asked everybody to donate blood for the good of society. There are no side effects of giving blood and said that one can donate blood every three months.

Naganur Mutt Swamiji began his speech and praised Chandrakant Buddarkatti, a veteran in the profession with rich experience and one can see the results in a modernized blood bank at VOTC.  Blood donation has become important because people today have lost patience and are always in a hurry and hence land up in hospitals for long time because of their reckless behaviour.  In the past rich people donated land, silver, gold, money and other priceless things to temples and different organisations. But in today’s modern times, there are different kinds of donations and they include: donating eyes/kidneys/liver/heart and in some cases the entire human body.  With changing times, new concepts have become a reality; once upon a time man was considered useless but now he has made himself useful and even in death every part of the body has become valuable.

Because of advancement in medicine and new technologies in place; the average life expectancy has increased and people today are living longer than in the past where people had a shorter life span. Hence there are fewer deaths and has resulted in improved quality of life and living standards. There has also been a population explosion and hence the demand for blood has also increased. So no one should die for not getting blood in time.

A total of 70 doctors working along with Dr. Ravi Patil in VOTC. Guruji speaking of Dr Patil, said that he begins his day by giving free treatment to 30 poor patients and also involved in lots of humanitarian work like distributing free water tankers to goshalas (cattle sheds) and localities facing severe water problem. Concluding his speech, the Guru blessed Dr Ravi Patil, success in public life and he had qualities of becoming a good public representative.

BJP leader Ms. Arthi Pathole whose 43-year-old late sister Savita B. Pawar, was declared brain dead; her family members took a collective decision to donate her body and give life to someone in need. She was felicitated and spoke about the importance of blood donation and thanked Dr.Ravi Patil for doing good work and contributing to society.
